Meet the Team

FIJF’s Board of Directors brings together professional expertise, lived experience, and deep connection to the communities we serve. Our leadership includes immigrants and children of immigrants, professionals, ministry leaders, and people whose lives and work have been shaped by service across cultures and communities.

We are committed to leadership grounded in Christian faith, wise stewardship, humility, and a shared calling to seek justice and love our neighbors. Each member brings different experiences, perspectives, and gifts to this work, united by a commitment to serve immigrant families with compassion, integrity, and respect for the dignity of every person.

As FIJF grows, we will continue building a board that reflects both the communities we serve and the neighbors who stand alongside them. We hope to broaden our leadership with additional professional expertise and lived experience while remaining rooted in the values that guide our work - dignity, hope, and belonging.

Esther Jones, President of Fredericksburg Immigration Justice Fund

Esther Jones

Founder & President

Esther founded FIJF after years of walking alongside immigrant families as a volunteer ESL teacher, foster parent to unaccompanied children, advocate, and friend. A longtime homeschool mom and mother through birth, adoption, and foster care, much of her life has been shaped by welcoming children and families into her home and community.

Married to her husband, Ricky, for 25 years, Esther’s Christian faith is central to both her life and her work. She believes loving our neighbors means drawing near, sharing burdens, and responding with compassion and courage when people in our community face injustice or hardship.

Amy Liu, Vice President of Fredericksburg Immigration Justice Fund

Amy Liu

Board Member, Vice President

Amy immigrated to the United States from China more than three decades ago as a research scientist. Drawn by a love of learning and teaching, she later left biomedical research to homeschool her children for nearly 20 years. When Afghan refugees began arriving in the Fredericksburg area, Amy joined BLEND Fredericksburg as a volunteer, building relationships with newcomers through language and friendship.

As an immigrant herself, Amy understands the importance of finding welcome, support, and belonging in a new community. Her Christian faith shapes her commitment to serving others, which she sees as a privilege and an opportunity to follow Christ’s call to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with God.

Ronald Logan - FIJF Board of Directors

Ron Logan

Board Member, Treasurer

Ron is retired, having earned degrees in chemistry from the University of Mary Washington and Penn State University. Throughout his career, he worked as a research chemist, business manager, and administrator. Born in Fredericksburg, Ron has traveled extensively and lived and worked in several countries around the world. He and his wife, Louise, have been married for 38 years and have five children and three grandchildren.

Ron’s devotion to Christ and his experiences overseas with people facing poverty and injustice have motivated him to walk alongside refugees and immigrants in the Fredericksburg community who are facing hardship and injustice.

Nora Twum, Board Director of Fredericksburg Immigration Justice Fund

Nora Twum

Board Member, Secretary

A daughter of Ghanaian immigrants and a Washington, D.C. native, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from George Mason University. She has been married to her husband, Will, for 25 years, and together they have raised six children.

Guided by her Christian faith, Nora has invested deeply in her family, church, and community.
